CANADA, November 4 - Released on November 4, 2026
Today the Government of Saskatchewan, Regina Public Schools, Regina Catholic Schools and the City of Regina are celebrating the construction of a new joint-use elementary school in Regina's Harbour Landing neighbourhood reaching 70 per cent completion.
"Working in collaboration with the city, School Divisions and community, we are excited to see our joint vision of a brand-new school for the Harbour Landing neighbourhood become a reality," Education Minister Everett Hindley said. "This school will provide a safe, modern and supportive learning environment, which will help ensure all students are set up for success."
“Reaching 70 per cent on construction is an important milestone for this growing Regina neighbourhood," SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson said. “Our government is delivering on its commitment to supporting Saskatchewan’s strong and steady growth through investments in schools and community infrastructure.”
The joint-use school facility - recently named Meadowlark School on the public side and St. Carlo Acutis on the Catholic side - is set to accommodate up to 500 Regina Public and up to 350 Regina Catholic students and will also provide an additional 90 new child care spaces. The school is located on the corner of Gordon Road and Campbell Street in southwest Regina.
"We are pleased to see the construction of this new school progressing smoothly," Regina Public Schools Director of Education and CEO Mark Haarmann said. "This school will be more than the walls, desks, or playgrounds - it will be where children learn, grow, and shape their future. We are excited to welcome our first students in 2027."
"We are thrilled to see construction on the new joint-use school in Harbour Landing reaching 70 per cent complete," Regina Catholic School Board Chair Greg Fischer said. "This community has already embraced and named the new school, set to open alongside our education partners in Regina. St. Carlo Acutis School already has a principal ready to step into the role, Mrs. Yvonne Sirdar. We are grateful to the Ministries of Education and SaskBuilds and Procurement for making this school possible, and we applaud the dedicated teams involved in the design and construction."
Since 2008, the Government of Saskatchewan has invested approximately $2.9 billion in school infrastructure, supporting 78 new schools, 32 major renovations and 17 minor renovations. To date, 54 new schools, 28 major renovations and seven minor renovations have been completed. In Regina, 17 new schools have opened during this time.
