Strengthening the Future of Education Together with the 2026-27 Youth Council

The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to welcome the 2026-27 Youth Council. Representing the diverse voices and experiences of Saskatchewan students, this group of young leaders will share their perspectives to help strengthen education across the province. Their insights will support ongoing work to ensure classrooms remain welcoming, engaging and responsive to student needs.

“Each year, the Youth Council features students from across Saskatchewan who are leaders in their schools and in their communities,” Education Minister Everett Hindley said. “As Minister, I look forward to meeting with the Youth Council to hear from them directly on how we can best-serve our students.”

This year's members include 12 students in Grades 11 and 12 from communities throughout Saskatchewan. Over the coming months, the council members will participate in several collaborative sessions with the Minister and Ministry of Education, offering feedback on key areas such as curriculum, policy and programs in schools. 

The 2026-27 Youth Council members are:

• Emma Durocher, Ile-a-la-Crosse School Division.
• Ethan Lepage, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
• Idabelle Llorente Roque, Northern Lights School Division.
• Keaton Doud, Prairie Valley School Division.
• Kendyl Wilson, Northwest School Division.
• Maegan Davies, Lloydminster Catholic School Division.
• Mikeilah Magnaye, North East School Division.
• Rochelle Berhe, Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre.
• Surasha Ranjith, Independent School.
• Tim Malyi, South East Cornerstone Public School Division.
• Toshani Sharma, Saskatoon Public Schools.
• Tristin Nameirakpam, Regina Catholic School Division.

"Change starts with a conversation, and I am proud to take part in that conversation,"  2026-27 Youth Council member Idabelle Llorente Roque said. "I am so grateful to have the opportunity to learn from others, share students' perspective and turn it into meaningful discussion."

Established in 2019, the Youth Council provides students aged 16 and older with an opportunity to share their insights and experiences with the Ministry of Education. Provincial school divisions, eligible independent schools, historical high schools and the Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre are invited to participate in this opportunity.
